Estonian defence-tech startup Wayren has secured a €7.9M strategic investment from global defence conglomerate EFA Group to accelerate the development of its next-generation battlefield communication systems.

Founded by former cyber defence officers, Wayren is building the Singularity platform – a resilient hybrid mesh network that connects soldiers, drones, vehicles, and command units, ensuring reliable data flow even in extreme battlefield conditions. The system is already being tested by the Estonian Defence Forces and the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

This partnership also involves Scytalys, part of EFA Group, combining advanced battle management systems with Wayren’s frontline innovation to deliver fully interoperable, multi-domain operational capabilities.

While defence remains the focus, Wayren also sees strong future applications in civilian sectors such as rescue services, law enforcement, and critical industries.

Congrats to Henry, Oliver, Tarmo, and the whole Wayren team for pushing the edge of Estonia’s growing defence-tech sector! 🚀
